After Las Vegas nightclub incident in 2022, Saints’ RB Alvin Kamara takes responsibility for three-game NFL ban: “I own it”

Unlike most other sports organizations, the NFL also has its share of personal code of conduct guidelines. Assault in pretty much any form (bar perhaps personal defense) is seen as a major offense.

Recently, the NFL declared suspension for two of the league players in relation to violating the personal conduct policy. Alvin Kamara and Indianapolis Colts Chris Lammons made a name in the list and after the announcement, the Saints player took the whole responsibility on his shoulder.

Saints RB Alvin Kamara owns up to his three-game NFL suspension

Back in 2022, Alvin and Lammons were actively involved in a fight in Las Vegas, and as a result, the NFL authorities suspended them for three games. The 28-year-old admitted that it was inappropriate for him to be associated with ‘breach of peace’ and delivering injury to a person after learning of the suspension of the authorities.

“I never want to be involved in something where someone gets hurt or severely injured or anything. Poor judgement on my end. Definitely a bad decision,” Kamara told reporters on Friday. “I was completely wrong. I embarrassed the Saints, I embarrassed my family and my mother. I embarrassed myself, embarrassed the city, and the shield, obviously, embarrassed the NFL,” said the player.

Both players are permitted to practice throughout training camp and participate in preseason contests, but neither is permitted to play until the regular season begins on September 25. However, Kamara claimed full responsibility for the situation, describing his involvement as “poor judgment” and “definitely a bad decision,” while also expressing his confidence in the authorities’ judgment.

“It was poor judgment and definitely a bad decision on my part. I’m not asking for pity or sympathy. I own it.”

Last month, the player reached a plea agreement and issued a public written apology as part of the agreement. According to the deal, he is required to pay $105,000 in medical bills to the man injured in the fight.

What did Alvin Kamara do at the Las Vegas nightclub in 2022?

Alvin, Lammons, Percy Harris, and Darrin Young were reportedly about to get into an elevator at Drai’s nightclub when the event reportedly happened. This was around 6:30 a.m. PT. Green was also attempting to enter the elevator, but shockingly Kamara stopped him and placed his palm on Green’s chest.

Green pushed away his hand, and the group of running backs started kicking and punching him which caused him to sustain numerous serious wounds, including an orbital fracture to his right eye.

A few hours after participating in the Pro Bowl the previous year, the five-time Pro Bowler was detained. Later, the 28-year-old claimed that he never retaliated in a civil complaint he brought against the Saints’ RB in October.

Alvin confessed his responsibility and the authorities’ decisions after being found guilty, which likely helped to decrease his punishment. Thus, the entire case should serve as a valuable lesson for the rest of his NFL career.
