Lewis Hamilton’s history with the team traces back to 2013, with the British driver securing consecutive wins with the help of the team’s collaboration and Toto Wolff.

However, since Max Verstappen has stepped on the grid, the 39-year-old has experienced a winless few seasons, which made him restless and lost hope in the team’s car last year. Therefore, Hamilton has decided to regain his strength, but without Mercedes and by signing a £100 million deal with Ferrari.

When speaking to the media, he highlighted that one of the main reasons for his transfer was to fulfill his childhood dream of driving in a Ferrari one day, as he said, “I now have the chance to fulfil another childhood dream: driving in Ferrari red.”

However, Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso has completely disregarded his statement by saying, “It was not his childhood dream 12 months ago, no? Or two months ago, I guess. It was a different dream,” evidently criticising Hamilton’s “excuse” in front of the media. Although the reason for the hatred has not fully been understood by the fans yet, it is quite clear that Alonso is completely against Hamilton’s decision.

After Hamilton had officially signed the contract with Ferrari, Fernando Alonso was naturally linked as Mercedes’s next most feasible option to recruit as the main driver. However, recently, the Spaniard has expressed his love and commitment towards Aston Martin by deciding to stay loyal to the team for the rest of his career.

The 42-year-old has also dismissed the ongoing speculations by stating that he has not been involved in any conversation with Mercedes regarding his potential transfer, which would not happen any soon. He said, “When I make the decision if I want to keep racing or not for the future, the first and only talk that I will have at the beginning is with Aston Martin. Because that will be my priority.”
