John Cena voices desires to work with Rob Gronkowski, predicts embarrassing outcome to Super Bowl LVIII kick: “Going to miss this year”

John Cena and Rob Gronkowski are now set to have a friendly rivalry over a field goal kick that takes place before the Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas. The kick is part of a FanDuel ad campaign ‘Kick of Destiny 2’, allowing fans to place a free bet on whether Gronkowski will make or miss the kick.

Before the contest, the 16-time World Champion has revealed his prediction that Gronkowski will miss the kick, as he missed in last year’s Super Bowl contest.

John Cena believes Rob Gronkowski will miss his Super Bowl LVIII kick

The Super Bowl LVIII kick is a campaign by Fan Duel in which WWE legend John Cena plays the role of Rob Gronkowski’s arch nemesis. Gronkowski is a retired NFL star who won four Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Recently, Cena and Gronkowski participated in a commercial shoot to promote the Super Bowl LVIII kick. During the event, Cena was asked about his prediction about the kick. Cena said, “I’m just going with the math in my head. He missed last year. And I think he’s going to miss this year.”

Cena also shared a few words about Gronkowsk’s presence in WWE. He said, “He was the WWE 24/7 champion, so now we’re peers as well. He plays for the Patriots. I grew up in New England, then he transferred to the Buccaneers. I live in Tampa, so we really had a lot to talk about.”

The kick is a sequel to last year’s “Kick of Destiny,” in which Gronkowski misses wide left during a pre-filmed segment. This year, he will try again in front of a live audience, along with Hollywood actor Carl Weathers.

Gronkowsk made his first WWE appearance at WrestleMania 33 in 2017, where he helped his friend Mojo Rawley, a former WWE Superstar, win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. He was the host of WrestleMania 36 and won the 24/7 Championship from Rawley on the second night of WrestleMania 36.

Gronk has not appeared in WWE since losing the 24/7 Championship, but he remains a fan favorite and a potential future Hall of Famer. The kick will take place on February 4, 2024, and fans are excited about the contest and can choose either Team Make with Weathers or Team Miss with Cena.
