LeBron James Lakers future: NBA insider casts doubt over legendary forward’s LA stay in 2025

Lebron James is arguably the greatest athlete of our generation and easily one of the best basketball players of all time. As time passes, the King only seems to age like fine wine, getting better each day.

While Lebron’s basketball journey continues to take its path, it is uncertain if the 39-year-old will continue to adorn the jersey of the Los Angeles Lakers next season. With Lebron turning 40 next season, fans are on the edge of their seats with excitement, eager to know if the King will be taking his talents to another NBA franchise.

Insider doubts over LeBron’s future with Lakers

According to NBA insider Brian Windhorst, there is a sense of unpredictability surrounding Lebron’s future with the Los Angeles Lakers. Windhorst reports suggest that Bron will most likely be playing in the 2024-25 NBA season but probably not for the Lakers.

Insider Brian Windhorst said, “I don’t know what’s gonna happen with LeBron in 2025. I feel like LeBron is gonna play next year, but I don’t know if it’s gonna be for the Lakers.”

Lebron James joined the Lakers in the summer of 2018 and has been phenomenal for the Purple and Gold ever since. He led the team to the 2020 NBA championship alongside his co-superstar Anthony Davis ending the title drought of the glorious franchise while reinstating himself as the best in the league.

Ever since the 2020 victory, the Lakers have struggled to taste success with their farthest venture being the Western Conference Finals, last year. It has been a rocky journey for James who has been plagued with multiple injuries in his time with the team.

With the Lakers, the ‘Chosen One’ has averaged 27.1 points per game, 7.9 assists, and 8 rebounds per game throughout six seasons. There is no doubt that the Lakers’ inconsistencies have dampened the King’s chances of adding more silverware to his cabinet and a failure this season may result in James’ departure from the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron remained vocal over his desire to play alongside son Bronny

Throughout the later stages of his career, the nineteen-time all-star has expressed his desire to share the court with his son, Bronny James Jr. Later in August 2022, Bron doubled down on his desires and expressed his vision, through a Beats ad, to eventually play alongside his second son, Bryce Maximus James.

For Lebron’s dreams to turn into reality, the basketball legend will have to play a tireless amount of basketball until the 2026-27 NBA season, in which Lebron James himself will be 41 years old. While Bronny is currently a freshman at the University of Southern California, Bryce is in his junior year of high school.

According to league stipulations, the earliest draft Bryce is eligible for is in 2026. It would require a tremendous amount of commitment for Lebron James to keep playing until then but it would not be the first time that the King would be defying expectations and reality.

Where do you think Lebron James will play next season? Can Lebron James and Anthony Davis win their second title with the Lakers this season? We are eager to know your thoughts and opinions so feel free to comment below.
