Matt Riddle reveals one Brock Lesnar decision changed his career path: “I was going to win the Rumble”

A backstage altercation at the 2020 Royal Rumble has piqued the interest of wrestling fans in the history of Matt Riddle and Brock Lesnar. One should not dare to offend Brock Lesnar, fittingly called The Beast Incarnate, because of his legendary power.

In WWE, facing Lesnar in a bout is often seen as a major achievement. Fans are wondering what may have been in the professional wrestling industry when former WWE star Matt Riddle said in a recent interview that he had intentions to battle Lesnar and come out on top at one time.

Notable highlights from the 2022 Royal Rumble event were Bad Bunny’s unexpected entrance at 27 minutes and Shane McMahon’s nostalgic comeback at the next spot, which caused fans to have conflicting feelings about the event.

The main event scenario was Matt Riddle’s opportunity to shine, but Brock Lesnar appeared and eliminated him, despite his promising momentum. After losing the WWE Title earlier that night to Bobby Lashley, Lesnar went wild to win the Royal Rumble match.

Lesnar stormed into the ring as entrant 30 and dispatched several opponents in under 2.5 minutes to claim the victory and go on to WrestleMania. In an interview on “Signed by Superstars,” Riddle said that Lesnar’s choice to win the match himself, even though he had planned for Riddle to win. Matt showed how aggressive The Beast was leaving no opportunity for others to question him.

Riddle noted, “I was told at one point I was going to win the Rumble (2022) and then Bobby Lashley beat Brock Lesnar, hit him with the belt. Brock came in, didn’t want to do business with everybody, and said he was winning. Nobody stood up to him. I didn’t either.”

Riddle wanted to retire Brock Lesnar

A history of biased verbal sparring existed between former UFC fighters Matt Riddle and Brock Lesnar. Brock Lesnar made an immediate impression in the octagon after becoming a PPV attraction. Riddle, who is no longer employed by the organization, has a history of causing controversy.

Even if Riddle and Goldberg have patched things up, Lesnar was still a problem since The Beast Incarnate wasn’t going to be pals with him any time soon. He, too, had some nice things to say about CM Punk. But he often said in interviews that he disliked Lesnar.

Despite Riddle’s earlier declarations that he wanted a rivalry with Lesnar, the Elimination Chamber PPV in Saudi Arabia gave him his wish—not enough but a temporary one. Regrettably, Lesnar quickly took control of the ring before sending Riddle flying with only one F-5.

Riddle is the kind of person who would never have considered turning back from the Beast, even with the hasty getaway. He kept an upbeat tone, posting a video of Lesnar’s move with the accompanying “never say never, bro” mentality.

Oh, hi, this is Md Robin Ahmed, a WWE fan and I everyday go through a slew of popular WWE stories on Sportszion. Watching Big Show's Showstopper was the beginning of my passion for WWE, though I have to say that his Chokeslam is not one of my favorite moves. Over time, my love for professional wrestling has intensified, mostly due to the Shield, and my all-time favorite wrestler in WWE is Big Dog. I would give everything to be able to be within a few feet of him to witness his iconic Superman Punch and Spear. My major is engineering, but I'm most happy when I'm doing something artistic that doesn't put me under any pressure. Watching them wrestle and discuss their matches is always fun for me. And I've finally discovered a career that gives me fun since it allows me to with my dream heroes lifestyle. So, Welcome! I'd love to hear from you on LinkedIn and Facebook.
