OKC Thunder defeat Warriors in Stephen Curry, Draymond Green’s absence as Klay Thompson gets roasted by NBA fans after poor performance

The Warriors are going through one of the toughest periods since the beginning of the 2023-2024 season. The Warriors who have been a dominant force in the first few games ended the matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves embarrassingly with a defeat, with two of their players ejected from the game.

However, Klay Thompson who is another team leader is facing stern criticism from the fans after he failed to step up his performance in the Warriors’ defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunders, especially with the absence of two of the biggest names in the Warriors’ roster.

OKC Thunder beat Warriors

After a disappointing loss to the Timberwolves on Tuesday night, the Warriors had a chance to put things right, but they seem not ready. This gave the Oklahoma City Thunder the opportunity to level their season series with the Golden State Warriors, securing a 128-109 victory.

Despite Golden State’s dominance on the offensive boards, the Thunder’s exceptional 3-point shooting, especially without Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, proved insurmountable. Shooting an impressive 59.4% from beyond the arc, hitting 19 of 32 attempts, the Thunder were led by Isaiah Joe, who scored 23 points with a flawless 7-of-7 performance from three.

Even Josh Giddey, who has struggled with 3-pointers this season, joined the shooting spree, going a perfect 3-of-3 from downtown. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, though not at his most efficient, still contributed a team-high 24 points, despite a 6-of-21 shooting performance.

Fast-forward to the fourth quarter, Joe continued his 3-point prowess, sinking three of his seven attempts. The Thunder’s hot shooting from long range proved too much for the Warriors.

With this victory, the Thunder stands at an 8-4 record, securing the fourth spot in the Western Conference while leaving the Warriors record at 4-6 to stay on the eighth spot. However, the Golden State Warriors will have to wait until Saturday to see if they can turn things around with a rematch against the Thunders at 7:30 p.m. CT. Chase Center.

NBA fans trash Klay Thompson

Following the loss to the Thunders, Klay Thompson who has been one of the best shooters in the league has failed to lift the Warrior team without Curry and Green past the opponents. The Warriors in their statement have not fixed a retuning date for the injured PG, while they lost Green to a five-match suspension after he caught Rudy Gobert in a chokehold during a game against the Timberwolves.  It is important to note that Klay was the one who started the drama that led to Green’s suspension.

Everyone expected Klay Thompson to step up his game in the absence of the superstars. Instead, his performance last night was awful. Thompson struggled to notch just five points, facing disappointment with a 1-of-10 shooting record from the field and 1-of-6 from beyond the arc. Alongside his limited scoring, he added two rebounds, three assists, and one steal throughout the game.

Some fans are not happy with his performance that came from one of the best shooters in the league. One fan shared his stats from last night and wrote, “SIGNATURE ASSTERCLASS BY KLANK”

While some fans called out Thompson to step up his game, “Klay Thompson If he doesn’t step up”

Some fans said that Klay would be called in writing “Shanghai Sharks is quietly scouting on the side. Klay is nearing to be called upon!”

However, before the return of Curry and Green, Klay Thompson still has a chance to fix things up for himself and the Warriors, as one of the team leaders and prove to the fans that his talent isn’t diminishing going forward.
