Bayern Munich in talks with Kieran Trippier alternative with Newcastle’s inflexibility over defender’s sale

The winter transfer market is underway in its final few days before it officially shuts down on February 1st. All the big clubs are finalizing their plans to make some late additions to strengthen their squad by bringing in contracted players for the remainder of the current season.

The ongoing January window has proven less successful for Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, having only secured Eric Dier as a backup following the collapse of the Radu Dragusin deal. Now, Thomas Tuchel’s side is actively seeking to bring in a new right-back before the market closes.

Newcastle United remain firm on Kieran Trippier’s potential Bayern move

Earlier reports claimed that Bayern Munich is interested in PSG sensation Nordi Mukiele and Newcastle star Kieran Trippier as they aim to strengthen the full-back position, particularly on the right side of the defense, in this January window. The England international is among the top candidates at the Allianz Arena.

It is believed that Trippier ranks high on the priority list of the Bayern Munich boss, who is eager to reunite him with his former Tottenham Hotspur teammates Harry Kane and Eric Dier in Munich. However, Newcastle United have remained reluctant to sell their right-back, considering him a key figure in the team.

The Bavarians have made multiple bids to persuade the English club to change their mind, but Newcastle has swiftly rejected the offers from the Bundesliga outfit. They have reiterated that they have no plans to sell the 33-year-old defender, who joined them from Atletico Madrid two seasons ago.

The right-back still has 18 months remaining on his current contract with the Magpies and is viewed as a short-term solution in Bavaria due to their shortage of options at right-back. With Noussair Mazraoui on national team duty, the midfielder Konrad Laimar is currently acting as a makeshift option in that position.

Bayern Munich in talks with alternative option

Bayern Munich, the German champions, continue their exploration for a right-back during the final days of the ongoing transfer window. Former RB Leipzig right-back Nordi Mukiele is among the names considered. He is currently under a long-term contract at PSG but is struggling with a lack of opportunities.

According to the recent update from Florian Plettenberg, the player himself desires a move back to the Bundesliga to join Bayern Munich, and PSG has agreed to let him leave under certain conditions. Negotiations between the two clubs are currently underway to finalize the loan deal.

The 26-year-old Mukiele is desperately seeking regular minutes, as he isn’t part of Parisian boss Luis Enrique’s plans and has failed to impress the Spanish manager. This term, the defender has only made 4 starts out of the total 10 appearances he has had this season in all competitions.

Will Nordi Mukiele be the perfect wingback for Bayern if they miss out on Trippier? Tell us in the comments section.
