Roberto De Zerbi included in contingency plan for Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Xabi Alonso

Despite the difficulties he’s currently facing at Brighton & Hove Albion, Roberto De Zerbi remains one of the best managers in the Premier League and potentially the world of football. He’s one of the very few managers who have worked hard to earn Pep Guardiola’s respect, and you can just tell the mutual respect between them when they face each other in the Premier League.

Things haven’t quite gone his way this season, with Brighton underperforming both in the league and in Europe, which is quite understandable. Despite these setbacks, he’s still a target for many European clubs ahead of an important summer transfer window, which could see him leave Brighton for a new club. Bayern Munich is a potential destination, as the Bavarians are considering him as their plan B.

Bayern Munich identify Roberto De Zerbi as plan B

Many European clubs are struggling this season. Take Bayern Munich and Barcelona, for example. They both won their respective leagues last season but could very well miss out on them this season. It’s even worse for Bayern Munich, as they’re potentially losing to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen, who are leading an incredible title charge after going unbeaten the whole season.

Due to these struggles, Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel has agreed to step down at the end of the season, paving the way for the club to go for their number one target, Xabi Alonso. Alonso is also a potential replacement for Jurgen Klopp, who’s also stepping down at Liverpool at the end of the season. One thing is for certain: this summer, managers will move spots, and Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi is one to look out for.

Bayern Munich is planning a move for Roberto De Zerbi in case they’re unable to land Alonso this summer. With Bayern Munich’s resources, the Italian manager will do wonders in Germany, and he is the best man to help take the club back to the summit of German football. Things may be going bad for him at Brighton right now, but he’s still one of the best managers out there, making him an ideal candidate for the Bayern Munich job.

Roberto De Zerbi’s managerial option after this season

It’s understandable why Brighton may be struggling this season despite having one of the best managers in the league. They’ve sold some of their brightest stars to either Chelsea or other English clubs in the past few seasons, leaving them without enough time to rebuild for subsequent success on the pitch. If you add this to the hectic schedule of European football, you’ll understand why it’s been a difficult season for the Seagulls.

As an ambitious manager, it won’t be a surprise to see Roberto De Zerbi leave Brighton at the end of the season to find a better club with a better chance of having trophies to show for his good work. The Italian manager has several options. He’s been linked with jobs both in England and abroad. Several reports have linked him to the Man United job, with some of them claiming he’s a popular figure within the club’s new ownership.

He’s also being considered for the job at Bayern Munich. With Tuchel stepping down at the end of the season and Alonso favoring a move to Liverpool, De Zerbi may as well try his luck in German football to play the kind of football he’s always wanted to play with even better resources in the country. He could also end up joining AC Milan back in his home country.
