‘This is very important at Real Madrid’: Carlo Ancelotti highlights Arda Guler trait needed to be successful at the club

Real Madrid fans finally got to see their new summer signing, Arda Guler, in action since his big arrival in the summer. Rivals Barcelona were also trying to sign him, but the Turkish teenager decided to sign for the 14-time UCL champions in a potentially €30 million move from Fenerbahce.

But his arrival was immediately marred by injuries, which delayed his inclusion in the squad until the new year. And now he finally made his debut for his new club and even impressed fans, especially his own coach.

Carlo Ancelotti reacts to Arda Guler debut

Arda Guler finally made his debut for the club after spending half the season injured. The 18-year-old started the Copa del Rey Round of 32 match against Arandina, which they won 3-1. Joselu, Brahim Diaz, and Rodrygo scored the three goals, helping to advance Madrid to the next stage.

Guler only played 59 minutes before being substituted, but he showed much promise to Madrid fans. He showed confidence going forward and showed some technical brilliance in the first half. He even asked to take a free kick, which is bold for an unproven teenager and almost scored it, but it only hit the post. His teammates on the bench were seen being amazed by this sheer display from the player, including Jude Bellingham, who breaks a rule in every match he plays.

Aside from fans, it seems manager Carlo Ancelotti is also quite impressed. After the match, in the press conference, he backed Guler to have a long, successful career at the club due to his personality.

He said, “Arda Guler will improve his level little by little but on his debut he has already showed his quality. The important thing is he’s back. Trust me, Arda Guler has a great personality. This is very important at Real Madrid.”

Guler reportedly linked to Villarreal loan move

But despite finally returning from a long injury and impressing everyone on his debut, it seems Arda Guler could be out of the club. The Turkish player is being linked with a loan move, and La Liga side Villarreal are said to be hugely interested to bring him, according to Diario Sport.

With so many players already having establishing their places in the team, it will be very hard for Guler to get regular playing time. Furthermore, Ancelotti and the club believes a young talent like him needs to play regularly in order to nurture the huge potential and talent he has.

Therefore, the best solution could be a short loan deal, lasting this season. He will get regular minutes to develop himself, and come back next season stronger than ever. Villarreal, who have hugely struggled this season, are monitoring the situation, and could offer Guler regular minutes. Other clubs could also join the race to get the player in their team.

Whether Arda Guler leaves Real Madrid on loan or not, they will have to focus on the upcoming big match against derby rivals Atletico Madrid in the semi finals of the Spanish Super Cup on Thursday.
