Transfer News: Jadon Sancho’s loan move progressing in talks between Borussia Dortmund and Man United

Jadon Sancho has been one of the worst transfers in recent Manchester United history, having been banished from the team altogether this season. Arriving for a big fee of £73 million from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, the winger had established himself as one of the best talents at the time.

However, his career after joining United took a nosedive after that. He was nowhere near the levels he displayed in Germany, and this culminated in him losing his first team status. After he got involved in a controversy with manager Erik ten Hag, he was banished from the team and has not played since September of last year.

Borussia Dortmund and Man United in discussions for Jadon Sancho’s loan move

With the player in banishment since last September and his display of arrogance in the dressing room, it was clear he wouldn’t stay at the club for very long. However, clubs saw his situation and disciplinary issues and did not want to pursue him, and his big wages were also a problem. Furthermore, United wanted a big fee for him to recoup some of the huge transfer fee they paid for him.

There was talk of Jadon Sancho being linked with Spanish giants Barcelona, and even talk of a move to the Saudi Pro League. But none of them were that interested in the 23-year-old. But interest finally came from a familiar face, and that was Borussia Dortmund. The German club that sold Sancho to United saw an opportunity to be made. However, they want the player for an initial loan deal, as they aren’t willing to spend on him yet.

Being the former club of the player, Sancho knew that if he could reach his previous form, it would be there. He was highly willing to return to the club where he made his name, and the club also wanted some quick reinforcements. The Bundesliga club have suffered this season, as they are only fifth in the league table. Sancho is seen as a quick and cheap way to help them in their season.

United were also desperate to get rid of the player soon, as they wanted to bring in new players and were struggling with FFP rules, with Sancho’s wages playing a huge part in them. And so the two clubs entered into discussions for a long time and have meticulously decided the various conditions of the loan deal.

Loan deal progressing with expected terms

According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, the loan deal of Jadon Sancho has already been agreed upon by the two parties. Dortmund will spend a total of €4 million on the package, including wages, and it will be a brief loan deal that lasts only until the end of the current season. United will also continue to pay a third of his wages, as they are desperate to let go of him.

Jadon Sancho will leave for Spain, where he will have his medical, as the German club are doing a winter training camp there. After that, he will officially sign his contract and return to the Black and Yellow.

There is no buy option included in the deal, as INEOS believes that after reviewing the performances of the player, they will decide whether they want to sell him. After the end of the loan deal, he will return to the club or be sold to Dortmund or any other club.

If the deal goes smoothly, then Jadon Sancho could make his new debut for his old club against Darmstadt in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
