Victor Osimhen Transfer News: Napoli president confirms £111 million striker will leave next season

Victor Osimhen is wanted by quite possibly all of the big teams in Europe. The Nigerian striker has created quite a portfolio for himself over the years, especially last season, when he helped Napoli win the Serie A title. It was their first since 30 years ago, and it made him a fan favorite, as he was the top scorer in the tournament.

However, rumors have been circulating for a while. The striker had a recent falling out with the club’s social media account and was also targeted by his own teammate’s agent. But it seems there is finally some clarity about his future.

Napoli president confirms Victor Osimhen

It seemed that all the rumors were squashed when Victor Osimhen decided to sign a new contract at Napoli until 2026. Along with a big salary increase, it also included a massive release clause worth around £113 million. This is a big fee that not just any club can pay, but only the biggest ones can. This makes his list of suitors very small, as only a few are ready to pay this much money for a striker of this stature.

Rumors of transfers away from Italy kept persisting, especially after the player spoke out that his future was already determined by him. Club President Aurelio De Laurentiis decided that it was time to put aside the rumors and finally confirm the news.

He confirmed that Victor Osimhen will be leaving the club once the current season ends. The Italian said, “We knew it since last summer, the negotiations for his renewal have been long and friendly for that reason, we knew perfectly that he will go to Real Madrid, PSG or some Premier League team.” This means that clubs will now officially race to sign the Nigerian striker, as he has been put on the transfer market. While Napoli fans will be shocked, many rival clubs are now very excited to get their hands on the 25-year-old.

PL teams interested to sign Victor Osimhen

While the president highlighted both PSG and Real Madrid, it is unlikely both will go for the player as they have other plans. Premier League teams—in fact, three of them seem to be very interested in the player. They are Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal.

The massive release clause means Chelsea would be able to pay it easily. They are also in desperate need of a striker, and Chelsea legends John Obi Mikel and Didier Drogba are said to be inspiring the player to make the move. As of now, the Blues seem to be his next destination.

Manchester United have some emergency funding after Sir Jim Ratcliffe arrived, and Osimhen is on their list. He is seen as an experienced solution to their striker problem, and he has both spoken favorably about Chelsea and Manchester United in the past.

Arsenal are also interested in the player, but may have to make some sales, in particular Gabriel Jesus. A swap deal was mentioned in the past, but it doesn’t seem the Gunners are in the best position to sign the player, though their recent success may persuade him.

The summer transfer window will therefore see a massive transfer war over Victor Osimhen, and it seems he is now going to take the next big step in his career.
