Van Dijk and Klopp have had a very special relationship over the years. It was the German who brought the former Southampton defender to Liverpool in 2018 for a then-world-record fee for a defender. Together, they marked an era at the club, winning the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League the next year. Van Dijk even had his best ever season in 2019, coming close to winning the Ballon d’Or as well, after having one of the best seasonal performance by a center back.
There is no doubt that Klopp has made Van Dijk so good, and the Dutchman will definitely miss him after his departure. In fact, reports suggest the captain may be one of few players to follow him out of the club.
