Watch: Rashee Rice’s accident footage comes to light with police on lookout for Chiefs WR

Merely a month ago, the Kansas City Chiefs achieved a historic feat with back-to-back Super Bowl victories. In this powerhouse team, Rashee Rice celebrated his inaugural Super Bowl win, having been drafted by Kansas City in the 2023 NFL draft from SMU.

Nevertheless, following a Lombardi Trophy-winning season, the star wide receiver finds himself in the spotlight for reasons beyond his on-field performance. Questions arise surrounding his potential involvement in a recent hit-and-run accident in Dallas.

Video: Rashee Rice involved in car accident

A chaotic scene occurred on Saturday evening in Dallas as a multi-vehicle collision involving six vehicles left four people with minor injuries, per Dallas Morning News. Among the vehicles involved was one reportedly leased or registered to Rashee Rice, sparking a search by the Dallas Police Department.

The vehicle linked to Rice was allegedly part of a hit-and-run crash, though it remains unclear if Rice was present at the scene. Police documents list Rice as the suspected driver of the Corvette involved in the incident, which occurred around 6:25 p.m. in the 6600 block of northbound Central Expressway.

Dallas police spokeswoman Kristin Lowman provided details of the preliminary investigation, indicating that a Chevrolet Corvette and Lamborghini were speeding in the far-left lane of the highway. Both vehicles lost control, with the Lamborghini striking the center median wall after veering into the shoulder.

Shockingly, the occupants of both the Lamborghini and Corvette fled the scene before police arrived, failing to provide insurance information to the victims involved. Police suspect that the vehicles were engaged in street racing at the time of the accident, adding to the severity of the situation.

A witness driving on the Expressway captured the harrowing incident on dash-cam video, which was shared with the Dallas Morning News. The footage shows the Corvette and Lamborghini speeding past before the Lamborghini appears to collide with a white Hyundai Accent. After that, the Corvette crashes into a van, causing it to spin.

Following the collision, two drivers and two occupants were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries, while two others were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Is Rashee Rice arrested by the police?

As of Sunday, Rashee Rice was not registered in the Dallas County jail system, leaving his legal status in question.

The details surrounding Rice’s level of involvement in the accident remain unclear, and ongoing investigations have yet to identify the suspects. The Chiefs’ executive vice president of communications, Ted Crews, declined to comment on the matter, while attempts to reach Rice’s agent, Cliff LaBoy, went unanswered.

It somehow left the heroic run of the Texas native, who grew up in North Richland Hills and then emerged as a hero in his rookie season, in the spotlight.

In his rookie season, the 23-year-old was a key contributor for the Chiefs, showcasing his talent with 79 receptions for 938 yards and seven touchdown catches.

His impressive performance earned him recognition as the recipient of the prestigious “Mack Lee Hill Award,” an honor bestowed upon the top rookie or first-year player within the Kansas City franchise.

Nevertheless, Rice now faces uncertainty as the investigation into the Dallas accident occurs, casting a shadow over the first phase of his promising career in the NFL.
