Caitlin Clark goes viral for awkward interaction with Indiana reporter

Caitlin Clark is currently one of the biggest names in the women’s game, having created a lot of buzz during her record-breaking NCAA era. Her fame is growing with each passing day, as she has been drafted into the WNBA by the Indiana Fever as their first overall pick. Following her insane jersey sales, what caught the eyes of basketball fans was her awkward interaction with a member of the Indiana media.

On Wednesday, when Clark was introduced to the franchise’s media associates, an odd statement from an Indianapolis columnist Gregg Doyel changed the room’s atmosphere. Like the other media members, Doyel stepped forward to shoot questions at the Fever’s new addition.

The columnist began by introducing himself, then went on to say, “Let me do this,” and made a heart sign by curving his fingers. Clark, who has been spotted making that hand gesture in her Iowa games, quickly asked “You like that?”

Answering in the affirmative, Doyel said, “I like that you’re here.” The 22-year-old guard added, “I do that at my family after every game. So, it’s pretty cool.”

Things felt a little out of hand when the reporter replied, “OK, well, let’s start doing it to me and we’ll get along just fine.” There was laughter in the room, however, Clark didn’t seem very comfortable. The press conference continued to proceed but that captured moment found its course on social media.

The budding star made it to the headlines after her move, not only because of this moment, but also because of her low-paying salary in the league. But now an enormous offer has emerged for the 22-year-old.

Caitlin Clark reportedly signing massive Nike deal

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Clark is on the verge of locking an 8-figure endorsement deal with the sneaker giants, Nike. Like many popular athletes, Clark will have her signature shoe line.

As per the NBA Insider, the path-breaking talent got proposals from rival brands like Adidas and Under Armour, but she chose to go with Nike.

Caitlin has partnered with Panini, State Farm, and Gatorade till now and certainly more big brands will be coming for her in the future if she continues her record-breaking spree in the WNBA as well.
