Chiefs Injuries: HC Andy Reid says LB Nick Bolton ‘dislocated’ his wrist during NFL week 7 win vs Chargers

The Kansas City Chiefs began the season with a loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 1, despite preseason predictions that they would go undefeated. However, the setback couldn’t let them sink into oblivion, as following that one-point loss, the team has never faced defeat again.

By clinching their sixth consecutive win until Week 7, the Chiefs are on their way to earning their eighth straight AFC West title. However, in their Week 7 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers, the franchise also witnessed a setback as their starting linebacker Nick Bolton sustained an injury that put his return to the upcoming games in jeopardy.

Chiefs LB Nick Bolton suffers a dislocated wrist

With eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Bolton tackled the Chargers’ veteran, Keenan Allen. The tackle was forceful, and as Allen’s body rolled up on Bolton’s left wrist, he experienced severe pain and had to be escorted to the sideline.

The Mizzou alum headed to the locker room to undergo X-rays, and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid later confirmed that Bolton had dislocated his wrist. Unfortunately, the veteran was unable to return to the game, and linebacker Drue Tranquill stepped in to fill his position in the team’s 14-point victory.

In week 7, the defensive star recorded 28 tackles and one interception. Coach Reid couldn’t provide insight regarding his potential return to action in the upcoming match against the Denver Broncos, although he didn’t forget to heap praise on the veteran player.

“They’re working on that now, and we’ll see how he does. He really had a heck of a game up to that point,” he said via Deadspin.

Meanwhile, this marks the second time that Bolton has sustained an injury this season. He also suffered an ankle injury in the match against the Jacksonville Jaguars in week 2, which forced him to miss the next three games. Bolton resumed his play in the Chiefs’ 19-8 win against the Broncos in week 6, only to have misfortune strike him again.

Travis Kelce shines in Chiefs win vs Chargers

After getting upgraded in the injury report, Kelce recorded his season-high 12 catches for 179 yards, marking his 48 catches in the six games. After joining hands with QB Patrick Mahomes for an F1 investment with Alpine, the TE also didn’t fail to continue their on-field partnership and the duo hooked up 12 times for 179 yards.

After the game, Coach Reid had nothing but praise for Travis, as he said the veteran had been getting better with age while jokingly welcoming Taylor Swift to attend as many of the Chiefs’ upcoming games as she wanted. The head coach gushed about his success in finding a rhythm with Mahomes on the field.

The match against the Chargers marked the second consecutive game where Kelce accumulated more than 100 receiving yards, and the Chiefs’ fans will hope the streak will stretch further when the team faces the Broncos in the upcoming game.
