How much did Jerry Tillery get fined by the NFL? Examining the aftermath of Raiders DT’s brutal hit on Justin Herbert

Jerry Tillery was having philosophical differences with the Los Angeles Chargers regarding playing time when he was with them. The issue became so serious later that it caused friction with other players on the roster, leading the team to waive the defensive tackle.

After getting kicked out of the Chargers squad, Jerry enlisted himself in the Las Vegas Raiders squad. However, the veteran’s bad blood with his former team seems to still exist. The animosity was quite evident following his late hit on Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert during Las Vegas’ loss on Sunday, and now, a hefty fine is being announced by the NFL due to his terrible action.

NFL fine Raiders DT Jerry Tillery

In the week 4 match between the Raiders and Chargers last week, Herbert rolled to his right in the second quarter of the campaign. As the signal-caller was going out of bounds, Jerry brutally shoved him when he was already out of bounds, leading him to get slapped with a fine of $10,927.

After the hit, the Raiders star found himself swarmed by the Chargers players as they couldn’t digest the cheap shot on their teammates before getting ejected from the match. Even Tillery’s teammate Maxx Crosby wasn’t happy with the incident as he was seen apologizing to Herbert. However, fortunately, the Chargers signal-caller was able to resume the game and led his squad to the 24-17 victory.

Von Miller issues stern warning after Tillery’s hit

On his podcast VonCast, the Buffalo Bills star Von Miller said if the incident happened with the ex-NFL star Tom Brady, the opposite player would have been suspended instantly while heaping praise on Herbert’s teammates for defending him.

“Justin Herbert was late hit on the sideline and the whole team came to his defense. If that was Tom Brady, they would have suspended him. To see the whole team come to his defense, that’s what you’re supposed to do.”

A quarterback is the most important player on the squad, and any small issue with the player is enough to diminish a team’s potential for a win. Hence, the Bills star issued a clear warning to anyone who might try to do the same to his signal-caller Josh Allen on the field.

“If that was a receiver, it might be different. If that was a running back it might be different. But a quarterback, that’s just ridiculous to go over and hit the guy like that. You can’t do stuff like that on the sideline….If someone hits Josh Allen like that, I’m getting kicked out of the game. I’m not gonna let none of that fly, man.”

Von has been taking his time to recover from a torn ACL, and expects to resume his play against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday against the Jaguars in London. The Jaguars should stay away from Allen and avoid any cheap shot as his teammate would be quite rebellious if anything like that happens on the field.
