Jalen Brunson Injury: Knicks’ PG suffered a bruised knee during the Cavaliers game

The NY Knicks have been a force to reckon with this season as they sit 4th on the Eastern Conference table with a 36-25 record. While the team is in full control of their playoff destiny, any significant setback can dampen their mood at this stage of the season.

Jalen Brunson has now suffered one such setback which certainly worries the Knicks fans. After being called a bum during the NBA All-Star weekend, it is now Brunson’s turn to leave people bummed out with his latest injury.

Jalen Brunson suffers a knee injury vs Cavaliers

During the initial minutes of the game, Knicks’ star guard Jalen Brunson fell on the floor without any contact after jumping for a shot. The 27-year-old tried to get up but fell again and was immediately taken back to the locker room. The Knicks ended up winning the game by 107-98, but at what cost?

The new addition to the NBA All-Star Game, Brunson was ruled out for the rest of the game. As per head coach Tom Thibodeau, Brunson suffered a knee contusion and the X-rays that were run came out negative. Thibodeau told reporters, “He had the X-rays. He was examined by the doctors and so that news is good.”

Brunson joined the injury list with Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson and OG Anunoby. Randle has been out for more than a month because of a shoulder injury while Robinson had ankle surgery and Anunoby underwent elbow surgery.

Brunson is averaging 27.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.6 assists while shooting at 40.7% from the 3-point range and 47.7% from the floor. His return is uncertain as of now but with the positive response of the coach, it is possible that the guard will soon join the team in action soon.

Donte DiVincenzo has no concerns over Jalen Brunson’s injury

The Knicks’ shooting guard and Jalen Brunson’s teammate, Donte DiVincenzo has shared that he is not worried about his teammate’s recent non-contact injury.

While talking about Jalen, DiVincenzo told NewsDay, “I asked him if he was okay. And he said he’ll be fine.” The 2021 NBA Champion added, “And that’s everything to me. … I don’t worry about Jalen. He’s one of the toughest guys in the league. … Whatever it is he’s going to bounce back. He’s tough as nails.”

DiVincenzo joined the Knicks last year in the offseason reuniting with his former college mate Brunson. The two played together in Villanova and won the NCAA championship twice. In case Brunson’s absence is prolonged, DiVincenzo needs to step up and take the responsibilities in their next game against the Atlanta Hawks on March 6.
