As the NCAA season approaches, a growing number of players are making waves by entering the transfer portal, eager to find promising destinations for the next chapter of their collegiate careers. Among them is Stanford University’s tight end, Benjamin Yurosek, who has now joined the list of players making headlines in the transfer portal.

In the midst of notable player transfers, including standout athletes like Caleb Downs departing Georgia University for Ohio State, Benjamin Yurosek has chosen to set his sights on Georgia.

Benjamin Yurosek chooses Georgia for his 2024–25 season

Benjamin Yurosek has announced his decision to join the Georgia Bulldogs for the upcoming 2024 football season. It marks the Georgia team’s seventh acquisition this offseason. Yurosek’s addition to the roster is particularly significant for Georgia, providing them with a valuable asset at tight end following the departure of veteran Brock Bowers to the NFL draft.

Yurosek, who ranks as the No. 6 consensus tight-end prospect in the 2024 transfer portal player rankings, expressed his reasons for choosing Georgia in an interview with ESPN.

“Obviously, Georgia has the best of both worlds. They have big-time football and the use of tight ends.”

Yurosek highlighted the opportunity to complete his degree from Stanford in science, technology, and society this quarter when explaining his decision. He believes this clever maneuver will help him make the most of his time at Georgia, making valuable contributions both academically and athletically.

He’s a graduate transfer from Stanford who is still finishing his coursework, so he won’t be playing in Georgia’s spring practice. Yurosek will have one more year of eligibility after graduating from Stanford in May. He’ll be joining the team in the summer.

Benjamin Yurosek’s NCAA career: How was it?

Benjamin Yurosek is poised to make a significant impact as he transitions to the Georgia Bulldogs for the upcoming football season. With three consecutive seasons of playing a pivotal role for the Cardinals, Yurosek brings a wealth of experience and talent to his new team.

During the 2021 season, Yurosek led Stanford in receiving yards with an impressive total of 658 yards. His 15.3 yards per catch in 2021 ranked him third among power-conference tight ends.

In the 2022 season, Yurosek continued to shine, finishing second on the team with 49 catches and accumulating 495 yards from scrimmage along with two touchdowns. Despite considering entering the NFL draft after the 2022 season, Yurosek ultimately decided to return to Stanford with the goal of solidifying his status as a top tight end in the sport.

Unfortunately, the tight end faced challenges during the 2023 season due to a shoulder injury. However, the ailment is not expected to hinder his playing future, and he managed to make an impact in the six games he played, recording 16 catches for 239 yards. One of his standout performances of the season was a remarkable nine-catch, 138-yard outing against Hawaii.

Over the course of his career with Stanford, he has amassed 108 receptions for 1,342 yards in the last three seasons as a starter.

Prior to his time with Stanford, he garnered attention as the No. 13-ranked tight end in the 2020 recruiting class and the 26th-ranked prospect in California.

Meanwhile, with his proven track record of success and determination to excel, Yurosek is expected to make a lasting impression in his debut season with the Bulldogs.
