Since Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic lifted his 24th singles major title at the US Open in September after beating Daniil Medvedev and won his 36 masters title in August defeating Carlos Alcaraz at the Cincinnati Open final. The 36-year-old tennis player now has a phenomenal 96 single titles to his name, a record no other player has shared in the history of men’s tennis.

He has been equally successful when it comes to his personal life with his supportive partner Jelena Djokovic. Djokovic and Jelena’s two children were recently baptized in Ostrog Monastery making them part of the Serbian Orthodox church.

Novak Djokovic is a tennis star and father of two children tennis star, son Stefan and daughter Tara, whom he shares with wife Jelena Djokovic. The couple have been lovers since high school, and they got married in 2014, welcoming their first child Stefan in October that year. Tara, their daughter was born in September 2017.

Novak is a proud father and often praises his children by calling them “my angels” in interviews and tributes on social media. And he at one time said that while his kids learn a lot from him, he learns a lot from them, too.

“I have a privilege to be a father to wonderful kids, so I try to take that childish energy and fuel my inner child because I tend to forget my inner child a lot because everything is so serious,” the 23-time Grand Slam champ said at a tennis press conference in 2022.

“Sometimes we take life too seriously,” Novak said in regard to his job as a professional athlete. “So they remind me of that connection. That pure energy,” he added about his kids’ youthful spirits.

Both children, Stefan and Tara and Jelena Djokovic are always in the stands at the tennis tournament cheering their father. Recently the kids were by Novak Djokovic’s side as he became a 24-time Grand Slam champion after winning the 2023 US Open in New York.

Novak Djokovic recently said that he is cheering his son to follow in his tennis-playing footsteps. “He likes to do that,” Novak said of Stefan’s forehand during an interview with the ATP Tour.

“He likes to intimidate me on the court with finishing the swing here. He knows I don’t like that particularly. I’m trying to teach him to finish the hand here, the swing, over the shoulder. He does that, but he does this as well. Whenever he does that he always laughs because he knows. We have these kind of funny moments on the court.”

According to reports from Serbia, Novak Djokovic is known to be a devout member of the Serbian Orthodox Church and has also had his children baptized as the church’s members. A recent video showed the Serbian star interacting with fans in Ostrog Monastery as he christened his son Stefan and daughter Tara with Jelena also beside them.

The Ostrog Monastery is a of popular pilgrimage place in Montenegro and it is a tradition for pilgrims to walk the three kilometers distance from the lower monastery to the upper monastery barefoot. Jelena Djokovic, who was recently on the cover of a Serbian women’s lifestyle magazine had a quiet time.

As Novak Djokovic prepares ahead of the Paris Masters, ATP Finals in Turin and Davis Cup finals, many tennis fans believe that the Serbian star also went to the Ostrog Monastery to draw spiritual strength.
