Hojlund got himself another goal and assist yesterday, becoming the youngest Manchester United player to score and assist in consecutive games after Cristiano Ronaldo. Hojlund’s assist was for Rashford to score United’s first of the night. The goal breathed fresh air into Rashford’s United career after being dropped for the game against Newport following his trip to Belfast.

The early goal in the fifth minute set the tone for a high-scoring clash. Rasmus Hojlund would get his goal in the 22nd minute from Luke Shaw’s cross to put home his third consecutive league goal after scoring against Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur in United’s previous games.

Although United went 2-0 ahead before the half hour mark, it was a nervy end to the game, as Wolves scored two goals in nine minutes to make it 3-3 after Scot McTominay had also added one more for United. United went on to secure all three points, thanks to Kobbie Mainoo’s brilliant solo goal in the dying minutes of the game.

Comparing Hojlund’s debut season to that of Cristiano Ronaldo’s in Man Utd colors

Ronaldo went on to become a club legend at Manchester United, winning the first of his five Ballon d’Or trophies in 2008 after a great season, which saw him lift the UEFA Champions League for the first time in his career with Manchester United.

However, just like Hojlund, things started slowly for Ronaldo as well, although he was primarily deployed as a winger, who had to put in crosses for the forwards.

In Ronaldo’s debut season, he only scored six goals; four in the Premier League and two in the FA Cup. He also had eight assists in all competitions as well. In the 27 games Rasmus Hojlund has played for Manchester United in all competitions, he has scored nine goals and assisted two.

Five of those goals came in the UEFA Champions League group stage, with United crashing out embarrassingly after failing to make the most of their chances against the likes of Copenhagen and Galatasaray.
