Who is Leny Yoro attracting interest from European giants including PSG, Manchester United?

The January transfer window provides clubs with the opportunity to make mid-season amendments to their teams. As the 2024 winter transfer window approaches its final days before closing, the big European giants are making last-ditch efforts to add some valuable bargain additions to their squads.

The French champions, Paris Saint-Germain, have made a few talented additions, such as Lucas Beraldo and Manuel Ugarte, while also expressing keen interest in acquiring Gabriel Moscardo and Leny Yoro under the new regime of Luis Enrique at Parc des Princes. The Parisians expect competition from Manchester United for Yoro.

Who is Leny Yoro?

Leny Yoro is an 18-year-old talented center-back who is currently playing for Ligue 1 club Lille. His breakthrough campaign has captured the attention of top European clubs, including the French giants PSG. The teenager has been a pivotal figure in Lille’s defensive line this season.

Since making his debut at the age of 16, becoming only the second youngest player in the league’s history to do so, Yoro has made 40 appearances for the club, progressing through the ranks of the Lille youth system. This season alone, he has made 24 appearances in all competitions.

The French prodigy was born in Saint Maurice, a commune in the southeastern suburbs of Paris, and is a Parisian by nature. However, he has been proudly representing Les Dogues since he moved to Lille at the age of 6 to join their academy.

In addition to his ambitions with the club, Leny Yoro has showcased his talent at various youth levels for the French national team. In September 2023, head coach Thierry Henry called him up for the France U21 squad, where he delivered an impressive performance, starting in three matches.

PSG, Man Utd linked with Lille wonderkid

Reportedly, Leny Yoro’s recent progress in Ligue 1 has attracted interest from clubs like Manchester United, PSG, and even Real Madrid. The teenage sensation’s cemented place in Lille’s first eleven, ahead of former Barcelona defender and World Cup winner Samuel Umtiti, speaks volumes of his brilliance.

The Parisians are leading the race with aspirations to sign the 18-year-old in the ongoing transfer window and are ready to open talks to discuss terms for a potential move to the capital. Yoro is currently on terms with Lille until 2025 and will look to remain at the club to continue his development with regular playing time.

Currently, PSG boasts a pool of fresh talents in their squad following a major overhaul last summer. The departures of players like Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., Marco Verratti, and many more suggest that they are aiming to build a foundation based on young firepower for the long term.
