Cowboys’ Micah Parsons talks on his rapid development ahead of NFL, disclosing attributes needed to become HOFer

The Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones projected Tony Romo and Micah Parsons to be the next Hall of Famer from his franchise. While Romo’s career is now over, Micah is just heading to the third season of his career and has a legit possibility to earn the feat after breaking out last season.

After being drafted with the 12th overall pick by Dallas in the 2021 NFL Draft, Parson was one of the key weapons to push the franchise into the top 10 in terms of points per game allowed during his first two seasons. Besides team achievements, he grabbed individual accolades like the 2021 AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award, two Pro Bowl nods as well as two first-team All-Pro honors.

Micah Parsons talks about his training routine

Micah has reportedly been working very hard for the last several months to try and ensure good feedback from the off-season program. While speaking at the Cowboys training camp on Saturday, the youngster said he is already ahead of others and is ready to create havoc on the field,

“With my training coming in here, I was already game-ready. A lot of guys might wait until camp and go through the motions to ramp up and get ready, but my mindset this year was like ‘I want to be so far ahead of everybody so by the time camp comes around, I’m in midseason form and ready to dominate.”

Parsons shed light on which portion of his training could be the key to ensure upgrades to his athleticism saying his mantra of greatness is to play violently to overshadow others,

“Definitely the violence. Coming off blocks and being on top of blocks. Showing people that I can be an every-down player no matter what it is: run, pass, or play-action. I really want to show people that I’m here. Training in that is just coming off and being explosive.”

The 24-year-old also had training in Texas earlier this summer when he used to wake up early in the morning to continue practice sessions. He stated how his love and dedication for the game took over his personal comfort and that too, without any pressure from the team,

“No one wants to wake up at five in the morning. You have to love it to wake up at five in the morning. No one is forcing me to do this. I’m doing this to pursue greatness and chase perfection in myself….For what I want, I know the mindset needed for what I want to do.”

The third-year Pro is already focused on his goal and raising bar of expectations by garnering more strength in the offseason. According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the team’s coaches said he is making so much disruption on the field that the offense is struggling to get a good work during the training camp.

Cowboys’ LB points out qualities needed to become HOFer

Two ex-Cowboys veterans DeMarcus Ware and Chuck Howley were inducted into the prestigious Hall of Fame on Saturday. Parsons also wants to grab the accolade after putting an end to his career,

“I have a testimony of where I want to be with my faith and God, and when you talk about great careers, you talk about the Hall of Fame.”

Nevertheless, the linebacker doesn’t only want to just earn the HOF title but also aims to be regarded as one of the greatest among elite players like the New York Giants HOF Michael Strahan who still holds the record for most sacks in a year,

“I don’t think I just want to make the Hall of Fame, I want to be known as one of the greatest Hall of Famers..… When you talk about me, I don’t want to just be mentioned in the Hall of Fame. Yeah, that’s a great accolade, but I want to be one of the greatest in the Hall of Fame.”

It remains to be seen if Micah can translate his heavy words and training camp experience into outstanding performance in the upcoming season. Do you think he is HOF material? You can share your thoughts with us in the comments.
