Often compared to the likes of Jordan in terms of similarity of playstyle, the Wolves superstar Anthony Edwards showed out against the Memphis Grizzlies with a very Michael Jordan-esque dunk. To call it a mere self-alley-oop dunk would be a mere injustice to the player. With 2 minutes to go in the third quarter, the Wolves handed the ball to Edwards to work his magic.
With one defender closely guarding him, the star started creating space with his dazzling handles, sending the defender left and right. He then took a step back, pump-faked the shot, and released the ball. However, he did not take a shot. The star threw the ball onto the glass and jumped high up to smash the ball into the basket.
As Edwards smashed his way to the basket, the Minnesota Timberwolves dismantled the Memphis Grizzlies at the Wolves’ home. With the win, the team solidified its position as the first seed in the Western Conference, reaffirming its status as a legitimate contender for the NBA championship.
While his outrageous dunk was just the icing on the cake, Anthony Edwards spearheaded his side to victory, scoring 28 points while shooting 11 of 19 from the field. The win improved the Wolves’ record to 30-11 in the 2023-24 NBA season.

Anthony Edwards’ spectacular dunk has been resounding in the league. In the NBA’s Top 10 Plays of the Night, Anthony Edwards’ slam dunk came first on the leader and was considered the play of the night.
Speaking on his performance against the Grizzles, the electric Edwards said, “I just came out slow man, I just wasn’t ready to play tonight. I saw that if I wasn’t able to bring it in the second half then we weren’t able to win that game.”
The star added, “I decided to pick it up. I wasn’t ready to play early so I had to find it. I knew that nobody on the other side of the court could guard me. I took it upon myself to figure it out.”
The player, who is inspired by Michael Jordan, also commented on his unbelievable dunk saying, “I was just trying to get to an elbow spot and he cut me off. I didn’t have nobody to pass it to. I pump-faked and he jumped and so I was just like ‘Might as well try it.’ I saw someone doing it in the All-Star Game.”
