Damian Lillard has been making the headlines a lot recently. He was a part of the epic three team trade which saw him leaving his old team, the Portland Trail Blazers and starting a new journey with the Milwaukee Bucks.
His move to the Bucks has instantly made them the championship favorites as the duo of Giannis and Dame is expected to perform exceptionally well. It good to see Dame have a new start in his career but his personal life seems to be breaking down. It was reported recently that the former Blazers star is getting a divorce from his wife, Kay’La Lillard.
Why is Damian Lillard getting a divorce?
Damian Lillard has been married to Kay’La Lillard since September of 2021. He has three children with Kay’La and everything seemed to be good between them. The news came as a shock to the fans considering there was only positive remarks surrounding Dame lately.
The reasons for the divorce are not detailed but according to the divorce filing, “irreconcilable differences” between the couple is the reason that “caused the irremediable breakdown of their marriage”.
Damian Lillard and Kay’La had a beautiful past together. The couple were together for a long time and supported each other through hard times. It will still be a wild hunch to make out a concrete reason for the breakdown of their marriage. It is yet to be seen how the divorce hearings will turn out and what will be the end result.

Damian and Kay’La began dating back in 2012 when the couple met each other at the Weber State University in Utah. Lillard dropped out of college early to enter the NBA draft but continued his education and graduated in 2015. Kay’La also graduated in 2015 with a degree in nursing and now is a registered nurse and entrepreneur.
The couple got engaged in 2020 and tied the knot in September of 2021. They had three beautiful children together, the first two being twins born in January of 2021 and another daughter in February 2023. The Lillard couple were well known in the Portland area and often posted about their life on social media. They were a role model and inspiration for many people and motivated them to pursue their dreams. It is sad to see them possibly go their separate ways now that Dame has filed for a divorce.
