NBA Rumors: Blazers, Bucks, Suns reportedly agree to blockbuster three-team trade involving Damian Lillard, Jusuf Nurkic, Deandre Ayton

It looks like the Damian Lillard and Miami Heat deal has closed down and instead a new blockbuster three team trade took place. The three team trade in question is reported to be carried out between the Milwaukee Bucks, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Phoenix Suns.

The players that are said to be involved in this three-way trade are Damian Lillard, Jusuf Nurkic and Deandre Ayton. This trade has gone through, and the players will see themselves playing for new teams in the upcoming season of the NBA. The opening night is just a month away with training camps for many teams starting soon.

Details on Damian Lillard trade

A three-way trade deal took place on Wednesday, where Damian Lillard was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks and would soon join Giannis Antetokounmpo for the upcoming season. The Blazers received Deandre Ayton, Jrue Holiday and Toumani Camara while the Suns received Jusuf Nurkic, Keon Johnson and Nassir Little as the part of the three-way trade package.

Lillard formally requested for him to be traded back in July and the Blazers decided to be patient with their approach to negotiations. Lillard expressed himself by posting “excited” on his X (formerly Twitter) account, refering to being excited for his new journey. The Blazers also recieved Milwaukee’s 2029 unprotected first round draft pick and swap rights in 2028 and 2030.

Damian Lillard trade to Heat canceled

The Damian Lillard to Miami Heat trade deal was almost done with rumours circulating everywhere. However the deal was put off as both the parties involved fell out. It was reported that Miami Heat were not offering close their full tradable assets which resulted in the negotiations falling out.

It was reported that the Heat’s offer was centred around Tyler Herro two first round picks in 2028 and 2030. The Heat were leveraging the Lillard’s preference of wanting to join Miami Heat and were not putting all their chips on the table amid interest from other franchises including the Toronto Raptors. It is understandable why the Blazers dragged the process and finally pulled out of the negotiations.

Lillard will now be playing under head coach Adrian Griffin as he prepares to embark on a new journey in his NBA career.

What do you think of Damian Lillard playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo? Do you think the Blazers got themselves a good deal? We are eager to know your thoughts, so drop them in the comments section.
