Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum is in great form right now. The fact the 25-year-old is delivering in every match is a big reason for the positive record of the Celtics this season. Throughout his career Tatum has openly expressed his admiration for the late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

He has always been a big fan of Kobe and said that he was inspired by The Mamba to play basketball and choose it as a career. Tatum once inked the number ’24’ on his body to honor his inspiration and childhood star Kobe Bryant.

The Celtics star Jayson Tatum once inked a ’24’ tattoo to show his due respect and admiration for his favorite player. Tatum got the iconic number tattooed on his right leg on the right side of his knee. The tattoo is in black ink with a different calligraphy than the usual one.

Jayson also wore the 24-number armband during a game to honor his favorite player. The armband was in Lakers color (purple and gold) signifying the legend Kobe Bryant. It is ironic that a very good Celtics player is such a big fan of a Lakers legend and doesn’t shy away from expressing his love and respect for his icon. This goes to show how big of a star Bryant was and how powerful his influence was on the younger generation.

Why does Jayson Tatum adore Kobe Bryant?

Jayson Tatum’s love and admiration for Kobe Bryant started when he was a youngster. He started playing basketball after witnessing Kobe play and since then Bryant has become his icon and favorite player of all time.

Tatum once said in an interview, “Kobe Bryant was the reason I started playing Basketball, He always was and will be my favorite player of all time.”

Tatum next explained the reason for which he admired Kobe. He said, “I love the way he can get his shot off, his footwork on your post and they are just his determination to be the best player. He has the incredible work ethic, an incredible drive, and just his killer mentality that he had.”

Tatum always followed Kobe as a guiding light. He once even dressed up as Kobe did for his Celtics workout. Tatum’s words and actions prove him to be one of the biggest if not the biggest fan of the legend Kobe Bryant.

Meanwhile, Jayson Tatum is on fire this season, averaging 269 points per game and has been a consistent scorer throughout the entire season for the Celtics.
