Looking at free agent NBA star Bismack Biyombo’s chances of finding new team before 2023-24 season

The training camps for the upcoming season of the NBA are going to start soon and yet there are a few big names that haven’t found a new home. Bismack Biyombo is one of the big names in the NBA that hasn’t signed with any team ever since he became a free agent.

Biyombo’s contract with the Phoenix Suns ran out this summer and he is a free agent ever since. He has yet to find a new team despite being a key player for the Suns last season where he served as a string backup to Deandre Ayton. The former big man of the Suns needs to hurry up before the training camps start or he might have to sit out the new season which will be a shame.

Potential of Bismack Biyombo joining a new team

Bismack Biyombo plays the center position which is a very significant position for every team in the NBA. They big man position is valuable when it comes to defending and collecting rebounds which mostly results in crucial point gain for the team collecting the rebound. The problem is that many teams already have a strong center and backup centers in their team.

Very few teams lack in player choices when it comes to big men. The Lakers could show interest in Biyombo considering they don’t have a strong backup for their main big man Anthony Davis. The Portland Trail Blazers could also approach the veteran rim protector as they lack a strong presence under the ring. New Orleans Pelicans can also place their bids for the former Suns big man as they need a backup for their main center Jonas Valančiūnas.

Wherever Biyombo may go, it would be a good signing for that team. Biyombo has been in the NBA long enough to be called a veteran of the league. The experience he will bring is invaluable and would help flourish the young talents in the squad. He has had a good career in the NBA ever since he stepped foot in the league back in 2011.

Overview of Biyombo’s career

Bismack Biyombo first set foot in the NBA in 2011 when he was chosen as the seventh pick in the 2011 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings. He was later traded to the then-Charlotte Bobcats (now Charlotte Hornets). Biyombo has since played for many other teams in the NBA such as the Toronto Raptors and Orlando Magic.

His best season was with the Raptors in 2015-16 where he averaged 7.0 rebounds and was a key player in the Raptors’ playoff run. He also had a good season with the Orlando Magic in 2019-20 where he averaged 7.4 rebounds. Biyombo is a player who can bring value to the team he joins as a veteran who has a lot of playoff experience and is a solid defender. It is rather probable that he will get signed real soon before the training camps start.
