Roman Reigns forced to sign fatal 4-way match at Royal Rumble after Smackdown GM threatened to strip WWE title

Roman Reigns interfered with his faction in the triple threat match of Randy Orton, LA Knight, and AJ Styles. This caused the General Manager of SmackDown Live Nick Aldis to issue a fatal 4-way match in Royal Rumble for the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

During the January 19 episode of SmackDown Live, Nick Aldis had Randy Orton, LA Knight, and AJ Styles sign their contract for the upcoming match. After all three superstars signed, the Smackdown GM called Reigns for his turn and threatened to strip his WWE title if he did not sign.

Nick Aldis threatens to strip Roman Reigns WWE title

The January 19 episode of Friday Night SmackDown saw the return of ‘The Tribal Chief,’ and Nick Aldis threatened the Head of the Table for refusing to sign the fatal 4-way contract. The event kicked off with the contract signing.

At first, AJ Styles made his way inside the ring and signed the contract. After that, LA Knight made his entrance and immediately signed his contract. Finally, Randy Orton signed the contract, leaving only the champion to make it official.

During the SmackDown New Year’s Revolution 2024, the main event match was a triple threat match, where ‘The Viper’, ‘The Megastar’ and ‘The Phenomenal One’, faced each other to decide the No:1 contender for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

While the match was underway, Roman Reigns and his faction disrupted the January 5 match. This interference pissed off Smackdown GM, who made the one-on-one match into a fatal 4-way match.

The Leader of the Bloodline recently shared his view on the upcoming 4-way match. He posted on Twitter calling himself the GOAT. The captioned read, “Doesn’t matter who they throw at me. I’m the greatest of all time.” Reigns defended the Undisputed Universal Championship nine times last year and this year on January 27 will be his first match to defend the title.

Roman Reigns signs to confirm fatal 4-way match at Royal Rumble

This week’s episode of the Blue brand featured a match between ‘The Viper’ vs Solo Sikoa, who took responsibility for last week’s loss to the three contenders. After Orton strikes with an RKO to Solo, Uso tries to interfere but is stopped by both Styles and Knight. As ‘The Apex Predator’ pinned Sikoa, he along with LA and AJ started fighting each other.

Orton surprised fans after he RKO’d Knight and Styles subsequently. As he was celebrating, Roman Reigns appeared out of nowhere and used a Superman punch. ‘The Tribal Chief’ then took the contract from Nick Aldis, who was ringside, and signed it.

The undisputed champ after his signing got ready to give a ‘Spear’ to Orton, and as he got ready to use his finisher, Randy reversed the situation and gave an RKO instead. The event ended as ‘The Apex Predator’ stood standing and all his contenders remained in the ground.
