Shaquille O’Neal arrested during DJ gig? Exploring why NBA legend surrounded by police in Nashville

Shaquille O’Neal made himself a household name during his NBA heydays with his on-court robustness. The Big Aristotle not only bulldozed his competition on the field but also was the heartbeat of the locker room.

Since his retirement, the 7’1″ turned his attention to grow his generational wealth but his passion for music did not become a sacrificial piece. The former Lakers star made tiny strides in the world of music and has made a name for himself as a DJ. But being famous has its own cost and Shaq got to know that once again.

Shaquille O’Neal arrested by Nashville Police?

Shaquille O’Neal had experience of detention earlier in the United Kingdom, but his encounter with the Nashville police was totally different. According to TMZ, the former NBA legend found himself surrounded by local cops during his visit to Nashville, Tennessee for a DJ concert. However, there was no issue that Shaq was facing as the cops were his fans among several others, who wanted to greet the Big Diesel.

On Friday, O’Neal was at Skydeck for one of his concerts when the locals spotted him. He was soon surrounded by fans while some were in uniforms. Being the kind person he is, Shaq posed for photos with fans and happily shook hands with them before leaving in a white SUV.

The Hall of Famer is a big name in the NBA world and being recognized by NBA enthusiasts is nothing new for Shaq. Playing for six franchises in his 19-season-long career, O’Neal acquired multiple accolades, the championship title being one of them, which he won four times.

In his glittering career, he was a force to reckon with, but it came to an end in 2011 with his string of injuries. While many players turned toward making movies and documentaries, Shaquille O’Neal apart from being a prosperous businessman tried his hand at the music box.

Does Shaquille O’Neal perform as a DJ?

Shaquille O’Neal disclosed that his father made him note down the list of things he wanted to be as a child with every English alphabet. Although DJing was not mentioned in his list of basketball player, cop, detective, entrepreneur, gangster, house husband and so on, he was inclined toward the DJ booth at an early age after being mesmerized at his favorite show.

The 15-time All-Star worked odd jobs to save money and buy a set of turntables that he played at school and college parties. Things were going smoothly until his NBA career came in the way. Widely known for his dedication to the sport, Shaq chose basketball over DJing and conquered heaps of achievements in the league.

To overcome his depression following his retirement, Shaq entered the world of music again and has been in the public eye since 2015. Expressing his feelings, O’Neal said, “When I DJ, it gives me the same adrenaline rush as a playoff championship game. That’s why I do it.”

Shaq has performed in multiple concerts under the name of DJ Diesel and despite losing money for his DJ gigs, his passion for music remained intact.
