Ex-NBA champion discloses veteran referee Tony Brothers NSFW comment on mother

In a league of stars and immortals, it is hard to make a name for yourself while not being a player on the court. But NBA official Tony Brothers completed this hard task thanks to his questionable actions throughout the years.

While players losing their temper over a bad call leads to a fine or getting ejected for some choice words, referees get away easily with such things. This has affected the modern-day game, according to many. One such indecent incident involving the Tony Brothers has been recently revealed, which could’ve ended differently given the severity.

Jeff Teague recalls Tony Brothers X-rated remark on family

Former NBA player Jeff Teague, who frequently shares untold stories on his “Club 520” podcast from the time he was in the league, has revealed a distasteful comment that game official Tony Brothers had passed on his mother.

Talking about the incident, the former NBA champion said, “We playing at the Pacers, I’m on the Hawks. My momma and my aunt was sitting courtside, you know they’re cheering every time I came in the game. I was young, I’m probably in my first or second year. He pulled me to the side, he was like, ‘Man, who them h***?'”

According to Teague, Brothers tried to act cool by sarcastically making a remark about his mother and aunt who were attending the game. The former All-Star was obviously offended by the comment and lost his cool. Brothers had to apologize to control the situation, however, Teague does not seem to have forgiven him, as expected.

While it is easy to joke on others, it is as difficult to take the joke on oneself. Something similar happened with Tony Brothers which made him react on-court.

Tony Brother hilarious reason behind Chris Paul ejection

During last month’s (March 22) clash between the Golden State Warriors and Indiana Pacers, Chris Paul was ejected from the game by the same game official, Tony Brothers, but for an amusing reason.

With a little under seven minutes remaining on the clock, the Warriors guard received his second technical foul of the night. Stating the reason for his first foul in a post-game interview, Paul said, “Tony [Brothers] … He’s talking to me, I talked back. I called him a TikToker, and I got a tech”. The veteran guard said that the official had a lot of power, which led to his second foul. The game ended with a 111-123 loss for the Warriors following the 12-time All-Star’s exit.

That’s not it. During a recent game between the Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks, Tony Brothers gave Hawks guard Dejounte Murray a technical foul. When the guard was sitting during a timeout, Brothers attempted to start a conversation with him, but Murray ignored Brothers, which resulted in a tech foul.

But Brothers also had it rough for his unhinged reactions. He once got banned for a game after remarks on Spencer Dinwiddie and given what Teague revealed, there should’ve been some more bans for the ref had matters escalated to a point beyond repair.
