WWE SmackDown: will Cody Rhodes come face to face with Roman Reigns tonight?

Cody Rhodes made his biggest achievement on the January 27 event of Royal Rumble 2024 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he got his second consecutive victory on the Battle Royal match of the year. The American Nightmare eliminated the ‘Best in the World’ CM Punk over the top rope and got his Road to WrestleMania moment.

On the upcoming event of Friday Night SmackDown, Cody Rhodes might call out ‘The Big Dog’ Roman Reigns for his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and a potential main event match on the WrestleMania 40 event.

Will Cody Rhodes kick off a feud with Roman Reigns?

Cody Rhodes got his first Royal Rumble victory in 2023 when he eliminated the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion Gunther at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. After which ‘The American Nightmare’ challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Unfortunately, the ‘Master of Cross Rhodes’ lost the match after the ‘Tribal Heir’ Solo Sikoa executed a Samoan Spike that distracted him and Roman used his finisher, the ‘Spear’ to win the match.

WWE fans are now anticipating a possible confrontation between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, as the 38-year-old star has been saying that he will ‘Finish the Story’, which is a reference to his future bout with Reigns. Now that he is going to WrestleMania for the second time, fans are wondering if Cody will challenge the ‘Head of the Table’ again after his last bout in 2023.

According to the match card for this week’s SmackDown, both Cody and Roman are set to appear at the blue brand event. The official WWE preview read, “Moments after winning the Royal Rumble Match as well as during the press conference after the Premium Live Event, Cody Rhodes made it clear that he had every intention of challenging Reigns in an attempt to finally finish his story at The Showcase of the Immortals. His path hit an unexpected turn, though, when World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins confronted Rhodes on Raw and declared that he was the man that Rhodes needed to defeat for the “true championship” on The Grandest Stage of Them All”.

Cody Rhodes, the three-time Tag Team Champion, is scheduled to appear in the red brand, Monday Night RAW, and the blue brand, Friday Night SmackSown, during the whole month of February.

He will attend 4 RAW events and 2 SmackDown events. Other appearances also include Road to WrestleMania, which he will attend 3 times, and the premium live event of the 14th installment of Elimination Chamber at the Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia, on February 24, 2024.
