Ilja Dragunov seeks revenge after matchup with WWE star Carmelo Hayes made official for NXT No Mercy

At The recent Great American Bash, Carmelo Hayes beat Ilja Dragunov to retain his NXT Championship after a hard-hitting match. Dragunov has been confirmed to get another shot at the top prize of the black and gold brand at NXT’s upcoming PLE, No Mercy.

The rivalry between the two stars began when Dragunov beat Bron Breakker in singles action a few weeks ago to become the No. 1 contender for the NXT Championship. Following the match, Dragunov seemed to lend Melo a helping hand in his tag team match with partner Trick Williams against the Judgement Day members. However, Dragunov mistakenly cost Melo his match that night. Some more miscommunication between the two stars led to a heated rivalry, which ended with Melo persevering against Dragunov at The Great American Bash.

Ilja Dragunov vs. Carmelo Hayes at NXT No Mercy

On the latest edition of WWE NXT this week on Tuesday Night, Ilja Dragunov defeated Wes Lee in a brutal fashion and punched his ticket to NXT No Mercy, where he will face NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes once again for the title, after coming up short at The Great American Bash, which took place at the end of July.

For the majority of August, Dragunov has been trying to settle his score with Melo’s best friend, Trick Williams, who helped him retain his championship at The Great American Bash. Dragunov finally got his hands on Williams at NXT Heatwave, where he defeated him in singles action.

As of now, he has made his way to No Mercy, where he will clash with Carmelo Hayes once again. It’s no secret that Dragunov is a huge threat to Melo’s reign as champion, having won clean victories over Bron Breakker and Gunther. Now he will get a chance at the championship once again, but this time he looks to end his rivalry with Melo once and for all.

Ilja Dragunov vs. Carmelo Hayes head-to-head

At NXT No Mercy, Carmelo Hayes and Ilja Dragunov will face off with the NXT Championship on the line for the second time now. Melo previously defeated Dragunov at The Great American Bash in July. This time, Dragunov beat Wes Lee in singles action on NXT this week and earned himself another shot at the championship gold.

Their rivalry dates back to July when it all started with a misunderstanding between Melo and Dragunov, who cost the champ his match against The Judgement Day. A few weeks later, when Trick Williams called him out, Dragunov beat him down as well. He accidentally took out Melo as well, who came out to stop the fight. This led to a lot of bad blood between the two superstars, who finally clashed at The Great American Bash. Their match at the event ended with Melo retaining his championship.

NXT No Mercy is set to take place on September 30th, where we will see the long-awaited rematch between Carmelo Hayes and Ilja Dragunov. Stay tuned to get further updates on WWE.
