Wrestling Rumors: WWE wants the Rock to make more appearances on 2024 events after WrestleMania 40

The Rock surprised the wrestling world by making his return at the RAW: Day-1 event, hinting at a potential bout with Roman Reigns. After being appointed as a member of the board at the TKO Group Holding, Dwayne Johnson took matters regarding the Bloodline into his own hands.

With ‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes scheduled to face ‘The Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, WWE aims for ‘The People’s Champion,’ The Rock, to make more appearances in premium events throughout 2024 after WrestleMania 40 concludes.

WWE reportedly wants the Rock in more 2024 events

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson shocked the world after his gimmick turned heel, and WWE fans are embracing this new side of the ‘Brahma Bull.’ Despite the initial backlash when Rock replaced Cody Rhodes at WM 40, WWE made a surprising move by having Rock join Roman’s faction, the Bloodline. The emergence of this new villainous persona for ‘The Great One’ has ignited social media, with fans eagerly anticipating the unfolding storyline between Rhodes and the Bloodline faction.

A little while back, it was reported that WWE is planning to make the Rock continue his current gimmick for the whole year 2024. As per reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, “WWE views the fan revolt that led to The Rock’s heel turn as ‘a blessing in disguise’…That’s because officials at the company now believe Dwayne Johnson will probably do more with them after WrestleMania than he would have otherwise ‘because he can get to Reigns later rather than just do that match.’”

When may The Rock show up after WrestleMania 40?

The storyline of Roman Reigns facing off against The Rock has been in development for some time. After Cody’s second consecutive win at the Royal Rumble, fans were disappointed when WWE initially sidelined Rhodes and gave that spot to Rock.

However, plans have since changed, and now fans are anticipating The American Nightmare winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, with the Rock vs Roman storyline expected to be scheduled for a future premium live event.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE will soon finalize an event in Saudi Arabia, and the higher-ups at the company want the Rock Vs Reigns dream match in the said country.

Meltzer said, “When asking if Rock will be working that show, we’re told there are a lot of variables in play and a variety of factors but obviously the company would like it if he would. But while nothing is set in stone, the belief as of right now is that Mania won’t be his only match in 2024 and there is definitely a push to get him to work at least one Saudi Arabia event this year.”

WWE Hall of Fame is scheduled this year, and fans are anticipating seeing the master of ‘Rock Bottom’ personally induct some legends into the HOF. Although Rock challenged Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in a tag team match at WrestleMania 40, some fans are hoping to see Rock betraying Roman Reigns in his title match at the April event.
